ALUMINUM
Do's:
Aluminum Beverage Cans
Don'ts:
Foil, pie plates, chair legs, aluminum siding
METAL FOOD CONTAINERS
Do's:
Rinsed metal food cans
Don'ts:
Paint cans, misc. metal, pipe, cylinders, anything which is not a metal
food or beverage can
GLASS, CLEAR , GREEN, & BROWN
Do's:
Glass food containers, and glass beverage containers
Don'ts:
plate glass, mirrors, Pyrex, light bulbs, head lamps, ceramics, or anything
that is not a glass beverage or food container
PLASTIC BOTTLES
Do's:
PETE #1, soda bottles
HDPE #2, unpigmented jugs
HDPE #2, pigmented bottles and jugs. These numbers are
generally located on the bottom of the container
Don'ts:
Butter tubs, plastic pots, plastic sheets, plastic bags, Styrofoam,
polypropylene, PVC, buckets, oranything that does not have a #1 or #2
These materials should be rinsed and lids removed. Breakage of
glass should be minimized. Cans and plastic containers may be crushed
NEWSPAPERS AND OTHER PAPERS
Do's:
Newspapers (including inserts)
Magazines, Junk mail, Catalogs, Phone Books, Cereal boxes /flat
(minus plastic insert), Office paper
Don'ts:
Waxed papers, milk cartons, metal reinforced packaging, metal
coated papers, plastic coated coated
papers, fiberboard, hardbound books, and other heavy
materials
*Recycle corrugated boxes, and high volumes of office paper
separately.
Stack and bind with twine or bag in brown paper grocery bags.
Please do not use
synthetic cords or metal to bind or plastic bags for
packaging.
CARDBOARD
Do's:
Flatten boxes
Only dispose in marked containers
Don'ts:
Leave materials around drop-off centers if dumpsters are
full
USED MOTOR OIL
* Used motor oil is only accepted at the SECCRA Landfill drop off center
Do's:
Prevent spills
Collect at home with a drip pan
Bring oil in a sealed container
Don'ts:
Do not mix oil with anything, including gasoline and antifreeze Do not bring
commercially generated oil
Do not bring more than 5 gallons at one time
