PROCEDURES & REQUIREMENTS FOR ZONING & BUILDING PERMITS
Residents can either print permit applications from the website or come to
Township to pick them up. The Township does not fax permit applications.
General Requirements
All contractors must register with the Township before starting a job.
The Contractor registration form can be found

Residents doing their own work must fill out the Workman's Compensation Waiver form and sign it in front of a notary.

Erosion & Sedimentation Permits are generally required for all earth disturbances
greater than 1000 ft2, unless a new dwelling is part of a recent subdivision.

(2 copies) drawn to a scale of 1/4" or
1/8" per foot showing:
Elevations of four exterior views and typical wall section from footings to ridge.
Exterior & Interior walls, plumbing fixtures, fans, fireplaces, egress
window sized in bedrooms, smoke detector locations, door sizes, stairs
including riser and tread sizes and intended use of each room and/or area.
Wood decks reviewed if part of the application.
Foundation walls, footings, chimneys, radon pipe location, plumbing fixtures,
beam size, pier and column size with spacing and size. Foundation drainage
system.
Structural system size of material, wood species and grading. Joists,
rafters, beams, lintels to show direction, size and spacing.
Engineered wood product joist and rafter system layout drawings by
supplier/designer. Must be submitted before time of framing inspection.
Truss design sheets and approved bracing design in accordance with HIB-91.
Plot Plan consisting of the following:
Location of proposed house
Location of all other buildings on property)
Location of proposed driveway
Calculation of all impervious surface (that which creates storm
water runoff), including buildings, driveways, decks, etc.

If applicant is not the owner, a letter from the owner must accompany
the application, stating that he/she approves the construction of the
structure.

If more than 1000 SF of ground is going to be disturbed, an Erosion
& Sedimentation Permit MUST accompany the Pool Permit Application.

All checks to be made payable to: EAST NOTTINGHAM TOWNSHIP
If the addition or accessory structure is in a subdivision, the Applicant
is responsible for contacting the Homeowner's Association (HOA) and
acquiring a letter from them stating that it has reviewed the plans and
allows the structure.
Applicant is responsible for researching deed restrictions.
No plan will be reviewed until ALL permit requirements have been submitted.
The Township does not accept permits applications, or contractor registrations, piecemeal.
Upon completion of plan review, Applicant will be notified of remaining
balance of payment that is due when permit is picked up.
Applicant must come to Township building to pay remaining balance
and pick up permit.
Total review period is 15 working days.If any application is determined
incomplete in the first 2 days, applicant will be notified of outstanding
items. Review period will start over only upon receipt of all requirements
